I stumbled on a news.com.au article called “World’s most extreme punishments” and was not surprised to see a list of impoverished, third-world countries and dictatorships. You expect extreme punishments in those types of countries.

But what disturbed me is seeing the USA on that list. Japan is the only other G7 nation on the list.

And it’s not just being on the list… It’s the fact that the USA is one of only eight countries that legitimizes more than two types of cruel punishment. One of which no other country ever does, putting us on par with Iran.
